These Boots Where Made For Walking

Great Wall Of China, 24th April 2014

They say  “You have not lived if you have not been to the Great Wall”, or so the Chinese saying goes, and it’s not surprising why! The Great Wall of China has been voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.  Stretching for 6,000km, it zig zags its way across China, snaking across mountains and through valleys.

They left on the 24th April 2014 and returned to the UK on the 4th May.  Arriving in Beijing they trekked the remote and stunning Gubeikou section of the Great Wall.  The next part of their journey took them from Jinshanling to Simatia and then onto the challenge of conquering the 1,000 steps that make up the Heavenly Ladder. They finally reached the Badaling section of the Wall, to then finish by transferring to Juyongguan to complete their adventure.

Chelsea and Melanie signed up first and raised for babybuddy and the special care baby unit rasing over £17,000 This would not have been possible with out thier key sponsors so a BIG THANK YOU to all of these. Also a big thank you to all that took part in the abseil this was an amazing day with over 40 individuals taking part. Thank you to all family and friends who sponsored the trip and helped with training and belived in us.

Aswell as chelsea and melanie, Lorraine who is also the co-founder of babybuddy and is mum to Diego who was born with Down syndrome just over 3 years ago also trekked along with Darren Crabb, Bob and Kim sawyer. We can not thank you all enough.

Chelsea said the trek was tough and some days we woke and had never felt so much pain in our legs but we had no choice but to get on with it. The whole experiance was amazing and we shared it with some of the most amazing people i have ever meet. The Great Wall of China is life changing.

Love your Hospital thanks Melanie Peters & Chelsea Harman for The Great Wall of China Charity Walk

On 24th April 2014, Melanie Peters,  Managing Director of the bestofworthing and Chelsea Harman (co-founder of Babybuddy)  embarked on a challenge of a lifetime in order to raise awareness and money for Love Your Hospital and Babybuddy.

Lacing up their walking boots the two ladies trekked across parts of the Great Wall of China - voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.  Most days of their trip included 7 – 8 hours of trekking in remote areas far away from the tourist trails.

This was an amazing challenge and as a charity we are extremely lucky to have Melanie and Chelsea taking their own time to do such a wonderful event to raise money for a great and much needed cause.

Love Your Hospital Charity is looking forward to Melanie, Chelsea & Lorraine coming to Worthing Hospital to discuss with the Special Baby Unit how the money raised can be used.

Tell us about an event you think we should come to.
